Reflux or heartburn, is one the most common digestive conditions, affecting most people at some point in their lifetime. Initial assessment should include an endoscopy to exclude any serious conditions, such as Barrett’s oesophageal. Usually, it can be managed with lifestyle changes and regular medication. In more serious cases, surgical correction is required to prevent reflux. Keyhole surgery is performed with either a fundoplication (stomach wrap) or LINX® device insertion. Both procedures are very successful in preventing reflux.
