Rectal Bleeding

Blood seen in the stool is a very important and alarming symptom, and a medical opinion should be sought quickly. Although the first thing that goes through the mind of many people is the possibility of bowel cancer but there are many 'benign' (non-cancer) causes.

These include haemorrhoids (piles), inflammation in the bowel and polyps. The best way of finding out usually is to have a colonoscopy.
